【China AIDS:2827】 艾滋病和妇女在线培训课程

Dear Colleagues,

Please be informed that the Global Human Rights Leadership Training
Institute (GHRLTI) is now accepting applications for its Advance
course on "Gender and HIV/AIDS" 4th August – 13th September 2008.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course will examine the inter-linkages between gender and
HIV/AIDS, explore strategies to mainstreaming gender and HIV/AIDS at
policy, programmes and implementation processes. However, there is
limited gender conceptual clarity and application skills among key
decision makers, practitioners, civil societies and private
institutions and the inter-relationship with HIV/AIDS, policy and
macro economic issues. These limitations hamper efforts geared towards
making gender and HIV/AIDS cross-cutting issues in development
policies, programmes and processes. In view of the above, the course
on Gender and HIV/AIDS is based on the understanding that: - Gender
and sexuality are significant factors in the sexual transmission of
HIV and they also influence treatment, care and support. The
prevention and management of the spread of HIV/AIDS is inextricably
linked to achieving gender equality and women empowerment.

This course has two broad aims: to empower the participants with an
understanding of the link between gender and HIV/AIDS; and to equip
the participants with skills and techniques for gender mainstreaming
into policies and programmes related to HIV/AIDS.

BENEFITS
Participants in this course will have an opportunity to articulate
with conceptual clarity key gender and sexuality concepts relating to
policy issues ar ound HIV and AIDS interventions; adopt a conceptual
framework for gender analysis on the causality of inequalities in
relation to HIV/ AIDS and plan, formulate gender sensitive
interventions and indicators for monitoring gender impact on HIV/ AIDS
in the areas of the specific mandate; and share information and
experience on gender and HIV issues within their various regions.

The maximum number of course participants is 30. Students who
successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of
Participation from the Institute.
